What Happen If You Get New Roof Installed

SERVICE INQUIRY

Before anything happens on your roof, there’s the boring-but-important stuff.

We come out, measure everything, and go over material options with you — shingle type, color, all that. This is also when we talk through cost, and honestly this is where a lot of people get surprised, in a good way, because we offer financing and have a payment calculator on the site if you want to get a rough number before you even talk to us. Worth checking out if cost is the thing making you put this off.

We also pull the permit before any work starts, which some smaller outfits skip, and that’s exactly the kind of thing that comes back to bite you later if you ever try to sell the house and there’s no permit on record for the roof.

Day one is mostly demo.

Your old roof comes off. This is the loud, messy part — there’s no way around that, it is what it is for a day. We tarp your landscaping beforehand and run a magnetic sweep afterward for nails, because the last thing you want is a nail in your kid’s foot or your car tire two weeks later

Once the old shingles are off, this is actually the important part that a lot of people don’t think about — we check the decking underneath. Sometimes it’s totally fine. That gets replaced first, and yeah, it can add a little to the job, but it’s the difference between a roof that lasts and one that fails again in a few years because the foundation under the shingles was already bad.

Then the actual installation.

Underlayment goes down first — this is basically the roof’s backup layer, the thing that protects your house if water ever gets past the shingles themselves. Then flashing around anything that pokes through the roof — chimneys, vents, skylights if you’ve got them — because that’s where most leaks start on any roof, new or old. Then the shingles themselves go on, and this is honestly the fastest part of the whole process once the crew gets going.

How long does all this actually take?

For a normal-sized house, we’re usually talking one to three days depending on the size of the roof and whether we ran into any surprises with the decking. Bigger or more complicated roofs, obviously more time. Weather can push things too — nobody’s installing shingles in the middle of a storm.

After it’s done

we walk it with you, show you what was done, and clean up thoroughly — this includes that nail sweep again, because one pass isn’t always enough. You should walk away with paperwork for your warranty and, if it’s a GAF-backed warranty, that’s registered on our end too.

Real talk on cost

ince everyone wants to know and nobody wants to just say a number: it depends a lot on square footage, the material you pick, and whether the decking underneath is in good shape or needs work. That’s genuinely why we don’t throw out a number without seeing the roof — but the payment calculator on our site gives you a starting point, and financing options exist if the upfront cost is what’s holding you back.

If you’re on the fence about whether you even need a full replacement versus a repair, worth reading that one too before you get this far — but if you already know you need a new roof, give us a call at (614) 918-0018 and we’ll get you a real number.
